Apostille information in South Africa

 

South Africa joined the Hague Apostille Convention on March 31, 1979. (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents).

The designated competent authorities to issue an apostille:

1. The Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs, or any person designated and officially authorized by him/her
2. The Attorney General, or any person designated and officially authorized by him/her
3. The Secretary to the Cabinet
4. The Registrar of the Supreme Court
