Apostille information in Uruguay

In Uruguay the designated competent authority(ies) to issue an apostille are:

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Directorate of Consular Affairs

Where and when is the procedure carried out?

Presential: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRREE).

Address: Cuareim 1384, ground floor (between Avenida 18 de Julio and Colonia). Telephone: 2902 1010 internal 76291 – 76274.

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The numbers will be entered until 3:00 p.m. The box closes at 3.30 pm as well as the access doors to the Citizen Attention Center, (C.A.C.) of Cuareim Street 1384.

Important: You can only apostille in Montevideo

General requirements:

Take the original document issued by the corresponding intitution, without alterations or breakages and with the signature of the competent registered authority or other documents granted by notary public, prior legalization of its signature by the Supreme Court of Justice.

How is it done?

On a face-to-face basis: The interested party must present himself with the required documentation, personally (or through a third person), at the Citizen Service Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Price:

  • Apostilla: $487 (pesos uruguayos cuatrocientos ochenta y siete).
