Apostille Information in Belgium

 

Belgium joined the Hague Apostille Convention on February 9, 1973. (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents). Therefore,  the documents need to be stamped with an “apostille” by the issuing state’s authorities in order to be valid in the state of destination.

In Belgium, the designated Competent Authority to issue an apostille is the Ministère des Affaires étrangères, du Commerce extérieur et de la Coopération au Développement
